Following is the schedule for winter training courses being offered by
Grand Junction Pipe & Supply in Grand Junction, Colorado.

BASIC IRRIGATION TROUBLESHOOTING - (TRCC) January 10th / 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM $35 This class will cover pipe identification, proper solvent welding technique, threaded fitting installation, valve and clock wiring procedures and electric valve troubleshooting theory. Controller grounding and surge protection will be discussed along with winterization steps for pipe and pumps.
CLA-VAL CONTROL VALVE MAINTENANCE & TROUBLESHOOTING - (TRCC) January 12th / 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM $35 John Tedder with isiWEST has 30 + years of field and classroom experience with Cla-Val Automatic Control Valves. He will provide installation, maintenance and troubleshooting information on pressure reducing valves, pressure relief valves and electronic control valves. NETAFIMTM DISK FILTER TROUBLESHOOTING & MAINTENANCE - (TRCC) January 17th / 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM $35 This class is offered to promote an understanding of how the Spin Kleen filter operates. There will be a hands-on inspection of how the 3-way valves operate and a discussion on common maintenance items. BACKFLOW PREVENTER INSTALLATION, REPAIR & MAINTENANCE - (Clarion) January 19th / 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM $35 Mike Brune, General Manager of RepMasters (FEBCO/Ames), will be talking about backflow preventer installation, repair and troubleshooting. He will be sharing his tips on quicker, easier installations and talking about choices of enclosures for your backflow preventer. HDPE PROPERTIES & FUSION - (TRCC) January 24th / 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM $35 Scott Bates, Technical Area Sales Manager with JM/Eagle, will present a general overview of HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) including product specifications, design criteria and applications. BASIC PUMP TRAINING - (TRCC) January 31ST / 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM $35 This class will cover the basics of how motors, centrifugal pumps and variable frequency drives work. Information on how to read pump curves and how Munro pump boxes start motors will also be covered. SOIL STABILIZATION / REINFORCEMENT PRODUCTS FOR ENGINEERS - (TRCC) February 8th / 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM $35 Ron Whiteman, Technical Representative with Bowman Construction Supply, will discuss how to make sense of Geotextiles and MSE Grids. Dan Baker, P.E. West Area Manager with Tensar International Corporation, will provide information on Tensar’s TriaxTM geogrids. WATER EFFICIENT IRRIGATION & SCHEDULING - (TRCC) February 21ST / 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM $35 The difference between uniformity and efficiency will be discussed as well as the components of an efficient irrigation system. To implement those ideas we will also look at the “check book” method of irrigation scheduling and discuss alternative methods. TURF DECODER INSTALLATION & TROUBLESHOOTING - (Clarion) February 23RD / 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM $60 This class will cover the basics of both Rain Bird® and Hunter® turf decoder installation and troubleshooting. LOW VOLUME IRRIGATION INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE - (TRCC) February 28TH / 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM $35 Low volume irrigation equipment options, proper application of equipment and a close look of installation methods and how it affects system maintenance will be discussed. The class will conclude with information on scheduling low volume of zones and what is required for long term maintenance. RAIN BIRD® GOLF CONTROLLER TRAINING - (Clarion) March 12th / 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM $35 This class will cover basic programming and troubleshooting of Rain Bird® golf controllers. RAIN BIRD® GOLF CENTRAL CONTROL LEVEL 1 - (WCCC) March 13th / 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM $75 / $100 (.55 GCSAA education points) This class will begin by defining the role of the system hardware components and continue with an overview of the Front Office icons to make common adjustments to your system. We will write schedules & programs for daily use and discuss the importance of Flo-ManagerÔ for automatic irrigation flow control. RAIN BIRD® GOLF CENTRAL CONTROL LEVEL 2 - (WCCC) March 15th / 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM $75 / $100 (.55 GCSAA education points) This year level 2 will cover special features of the Rain Bird software including, maps (importing and manipulating), SmartPump, SmartSensors, SmartWeather and Rain Watch. MAXICOM2 HARDWARE - (TRCC) March 20th / 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM $75 This class is designed for irrigation professionals who need a broader understanding of how MAXICOM2 irrigation hardware interacts with MAXICOM2 software. This class will cover installation procedures for both hardwire and radio-link systems. This class has limited space. MAXICOM2 LEVEL 1 - (WCCC) March 21st / 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM $75 This class will define the role of the system hardware components. This training will also introduce participants to the software and its primary functions related to basic irrigation operation. MAXICOM2 LEVEL 2 - (WCCC) March 22nd / 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM $75 This class will review communication options and hardware roles within the system. The main emphasis will be on software capabilities such as Flow Manager, Flow Watch and Rain Watch. Time will also be spent building programs and schedules for irrigation control. |
